My friend in Valencia
Like me, he didn’t speak much Spanish. He needed someone to talk to. Over time, it became apparent we were helping each other stay sober.
I was sober for three years when I left to study abroad in Valencia, Spain. Sometimes you get a feel for a place right away, something more than a first impression. When I stepped out of the airport and into the open Mediterranean air, I felt more than physically transported. This was another world and I wanted to go exploring.
