That Still Small Voice

I can’t really recall how I felt as I sat in Albany Medical Center Ear Nose and Throat department and listened to the doctor speaking phrases like “malignant neoplasm of the larynx,” and “unspecified malignant neoplasm of lymph nodes of the head, face and neck.” Maybe I was numb but I distinctly remember thinking, “I’m not scared.”
