Lucky in Peru

I was recently asked if I had a soft landing into AA. To tell you the truth, not really. When I walked into my first meeting 15 years ago, I didn’t see anyone who looked or sounded like me. I’m transgender. Life was pretty hard growing up in a family that didn’t accept me for who I was. And with active alcoholism, I wasn’t able to process the rejection life threw at me. After another 10 years of soul-crushing insanity and drinking, I came back to AA.
