Through painful challenges, she’s managed to get sober, turn her past to good use and find her place in AA

On July 3, 1984, my friends and I crossed over the state line from Illinois into Wisconsin, where the legal drinking age was only 18. On the way home from a day of partying there I had my arm out the open window when the driver, drunk himself, swerved and sideswiped a tree.
