A drunken night haunted this longtimer for years, but one day she got a call that brought unexpected joy

I grew up on a poultry farm in Connecticut. I was 14 years old when I started drinking and I was a blackout drinker right from the start. Alcohol provided me an escape from reality. My parents didn’t drink, but my dad was a violent man. You never knew when he would explode. It was very stressful on all of us.
