Time Enough

Time. Time. As I near my 15th sober anniversary in the AA fellowship, I can’t stop thinking about the twenty years previous to that, my drinking years—my lost years. I’ve been to many AA meetings where it has been said, “I wish I would have gotten here sooner,” and I do indeed find myself feeling the same way. Wishful thinking, of course. The truth of the matter is that it takes whatever time it takes to get to our program.
