While You’re Down There…
It was suggested that I throw my shoes up under the bed, and when I got up in the morning, since I was down on my knees anyway, to pray. Well, I did not do that.
The oldtimers in my home group were sometimes cantankerous and blunt, but they welcomed me when I was new to AA. “Keep coming back,” they all told me. I thought that was really nice. They also were generous with their experience and their suggestions about how to stay sober. But did I take their advice? Certainly not.
