Sober since 1989, he’s seen a lot of folks come and go. Not him. Life is too good now. He’s staying put.
Two of my great-grandfathers were farmers who drank whiskey all day long. My father was an alcoholic who, despite his drinking, died in a nursing home at 82. He used to get me to bring him small bottles of vodka in the nursing home, as he thought the nurses couldn’t see them.
