Growing up in D.C., he learned to drink and fight, but in AA he learned to surrender

I was born the oldest of three boys in the Ledroit Park neighborhood of northwest Washington, D.C. My father was a postal employee and my mother was a stay-at-home mom for the first nine years of my life.
