Other Towns, Other Meetings

My experience has been wonderful when it comes to finding meetings in other cities while traveling. I live in Oregon and my home group is the Ding-a-Ling meeting in Saint Helens. One of the first trips I took in sobriety was many years ago to Hawaii. This trip showed me that finding a meeting while out of town was possible. Going to Hawaii for a week sounds glamorous, but that was a trip that I needed to be cautious about. The dilemma that I faced on this trip was that I would be traveling with an active drinker. This was unavoidable so I asked my sponsor what the best course would be to take. She was an avid traveler and suggested I research and find some meetings in the area in which I would be staying. She said, “Just have a plan.”
