After his first meeting, he decided AA wasn’t for him. Then someone uttered the magic phrase

When I came to my first AA meeting, my brilliant alcoholic brain had figured out that I was just having a long string of bad luck, that was all. A string that included several stays in the county jail, all alcohol-related, being disowned by my family, having no friends except those who would drink or use with me, and not having worked for several years. Yeah, it’s just  luck, I’d say. It’s not that I’m really an alcoholic.
