Between God And Me

She loved to go on cruises, even sober—but an unguarded moment nearly dragged her down to John Barleycorn’s locker

Back in 2016, with seven years of sobriety under my belt, I had the opportunity to go on a cruise with my best friend who lives in New York (I live in Florida). She is an earthling and doesn’t drink at all (I still don’t understand that), but she is well aware that I am a recovering alcoholic. Anyway, cruising is my favorite means of traveling and I had been on a few cruises since getting sober in 2009. I must admit though that this was going to be my first cruise without traveling with my sober tribe. All my travels (and cruises before this one) were with Sober Celebrations, a group of sober men and women who travel the world by air, land and sea. Meetings and fellowship are always part of the journey.
