Breaking the isolation

His alcoholism kept him alone in hell. But once he made it to AA, he got the gift of “we”

Coming from a family where alcoholism went back generations, maybe it’s to be expected that around age 7, I was sexually abused by a family member. If I wasn’t already self-centered in the extreme, I believe that did it. That slammed the gate shut between me and the human race (which I never really identified as being a part of). I later learned how normal it is to react to horrible trauma like that, especially with alcoholism and other forms of mental illness going back generations in my family without anyone realizing it.
