Age 21, I celebrated my first sober anniversary at an AA meeting in Williamstown, Massachusetts. I shared my story for 20 minutes, crying the whole time. My sponsor, Paul C., an oldtimer in his 60s, sat in the back row. He got his hand up during the discussion portion.
