As I was approaching my fifth year of sobriety, my husband retired from the Navy. I had recently retired from 10 years in the military as well. We decided to move from San Diego, California, where I got sober, to Pittsford, my husband’s hometown in upstate New York. I had yet to experience anything other than California AA.
