For me, Tradition Two, like much of our program, is about humility. It’s about letting someone else be in charge, and it hasn’t been easy to learn. I used to be convinced that I needed to be in charge in order to manage the chaos of life. Though everything was falling apart around me—caused in no small part by my obsessive drinking—I had to be in control. I was my own ultimate authority.
