In the early days of the pandemic, he moved, lost a beloved spouse and experienced a serious illness. He also discovered that AA works

It was a cold, late winter evening in February 2020, as members of three different AA groups gathered to discuss the current situation and figure out options. The coronavirus pandemic was intruding itself into our safe place - the Kelso Fellowship Hall. There were questions about how to keep social distancing, what the best disinfectant might be and how many people we could allow into the hall at any one time. A week or so later the answers came: there was not going to be any in-person meetings at our hall for the foreseeable future. Maybe we could meet outside in the fresh air, but it tends to be pretty damp outside in Western Washington in February. The fear of no AA meetings settled in.
