Once deemed a “menace to society,” she got sober in jail, did her time and is now going back in to help others

It was the summer of 1986, on the last day of seventh grade, when I experienced my first blackout. I was 13 years old. I drank a half pint of grain alcohol and was arrested in our local supermarket for indecent exposure. This would be my pattern. Get blackout drunk, get arrested, rinse and repeat.
