Letting Go

She made it to AA, but alcohol still kept its grip. Luckily an oldtimer’s suggestion set her free

For most of my life, prayer was reserved for mealtimes and for getting out of trouble. Despite being an active participant in Sunday school, youth groups and church camps, I never understood how spirituality and prayer could impact me on a daily basis. I also questioned the validity of a Higher Power because I couldn’t touch, feel or talk in person to a God of my understanding, which I always assumed was like a grand wizard who was able to grant wishes.
