Fishing Heaven

Whether it’s the lessons we get to learn or the love we give, living life sober is the big catch

I had recently returned from Montana, where I learned to fly fish for trout. My friend John said he knew of a place to put in his canoe and fish for common bluegills. With my expensive, state-of-the-art fly rod and wearing the obligatory fly fisherman’s gadget-filled vest, I was overequipped for such a humble fish, but bluegills would be good practice for honing my skill at casting. All I lacked was humility.
