Self-Acceptance
He decided to stop asking why he was an alcoholic—and to do something about it instead
My self-awareness that I’m an alcoholic is what I lived with for six years. I knew I was a drunk before coming into AA, and I did ask for help while in college. When I asked my doctor at the school why I was an alcoholic, she told me to stop asking why and just to please do something about it. A nurse gave me essentially the same advice: “Stop asking yourself why—just do something about it.”
