A grandmother shares about her chaotic childhood, her descent into alcoholism and her spiritual life today
I was born and raised in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. I learned about the consequences of alcoholism early on through my father, but that didn’t stop me from my own downward spiral. When I was 5 my dad returned from World War II. Mom and I met him in a bar, and he gave me his dog tags. But after many more drinks he ripped the tags off my neck. After that I was afraid of him. Rubbing my injured neck, I learned alcohol hurt.
