The Real Me

Coming into AA at 42 after 10 solid years of therapy, I felt I knew myself pretty well. I didn’t realize that 30 years of nearly daily use of some form of intoxicant had stunted my social and emotional growth. I didn’t have a typical puberty since I used alcohol and other substances to shut down my feelings and muddle through my teenage years. OK, that applies to the subsequent decades too.
