The Turkey Carver
On Thanksgiving, the turkey is the main event in my family household. When I was a boy, the art of carving the bird was passed on to me by my father. But later, my drunkenness on Thanksgiving kept me from carving the bird, and I found myself being fed on a tray in front of the television set—so I could watch my football games, I thought. I learned later that my banishment was by request of family friends who dined with us on Thanksgiving Day and felt my eating habits did not enhance their meal.
