One thing she’s learned for sure in AA is that if you put your toe in the water it doesn’t mean you went swimming

My grandmother, Mary G., entered the doors of AA in 1939. She was described as someone who dressed like a lady but spoke like a sailor. She helped many people get sober. I was blessed to have met one such man, Les S., who was forever grateful for her help. She would often say to me during my drinking days, “If you take that first drink, you lose the power to choose.” She passed away with over 50 years of sobriety.
