Making Things Right

A dad cleans up the past with his family, starting with a nerve-racking but wonderful trip to the Ozarks with his boys

The silence in the car was palpable. I held my breath. The only thing going through my head was the phrase, “… except when to do so would injure them or others.” This was a big mistake. My two sons looked out the side windows while the delta landscape clicked by at 65 miles an hour. At the wheel, I stared out at the highway ahead with nothing else I could say, feeling like I had let them down again.
