Helping Spread the Word

After 26 years of drinking, the day came when I could not get drunk anymore. That morning I was alone in my kitchen. I’d consumed all the alcohol in the house, and still the voices in my head kept screaming. I was a nurse yet knew nothing about the disease of alcoholism, nor had I attributed the chaos in my life to my drinking. I did know I couldn’t live without the escape alcohol provided, but I just couldn’t live in my skin one more day. I didn’t know about AA or the solution it provided. That day I decided that my solution was to take my own life.
