When Pancakes and Spirituality Mix

“I’m in over my head,” I thought, as our District Chairman delegated the responsibility for organizing the district’s annual AA Pancake Breakfast to me. Didn’t he realize that I, as a middle school teacher with six daily preps, had no time for such an undertaking? I had never even attended one of these pancake breakfasts, so I had no idea what one was supposed to even look like. To add to the pressure, Covid-19 had canceled the previous two years’ events, and the district committee was full-blown insistent that this year’s event come back like gangbusters.
