Moving to a new town in sobriety isn’t easy. One guy shares what helped him take some action

I got sober in New York City. After almost 15 years of hard drinking, by the grace of God I landed in some downtown Manhattan AA groups. The year 1985 was an amazing time to get sober there. AA had just celebrated its 50th anniversary, New York was not entirely gentrified, and it was just before the two big epidemics of AIDS and crack cocaine.
