Just in Time

Fresh out of treatment, alone in the airport, with his flight delayed and lots of bars in sight. What now?

“Flight delayed” the sign said. Good to know, but what do I do now? I had just gotten out of treatment. I turned and looked down the busy terminal in the Orange County airport in southern California, spotting several restaurants, stores and, of course, bars. My last drink was in this same airport six weeks earlier after getting off the plane. In my mind, that was supposed to be my last one. I figured I might as well make it a good one.
