She saw a sober life was possible from the older members. But when she joined the young AAs, her life took off

I got sober in 2016, a few weeks before my 17th birthday. At the end of my pitifully short drinking career of four years, I was suicidal, scraping by in university (I had been a straight-A student) and was nearly deported back to the U.S. from Europe. I drank in the morning, afternoon and night, and I didn’t stop until there was no more alcohol available. I drank the way breathing is a reflex.
