The writer of “Fully Present, Fully Real” came to AA at 26, but didn’t really work the program. He relapsed and drank for another 17 years. He tried AA again but got impatient and relapsed again. He’s now back after learning valuable lessons. “I had been trying to build my sobriety around my life, instead of building my life around sobriety,” he writes. “I don’t take sobriety for granted anymore.”
