A Real Lifeline

In 2019, when I was sober 18 months, I got my July Grapevine prison issue. There was an appeal in the magazine for AA members to correspond with incarcerated people, so  I wrote to GSO’s Corrections Correspondence Service (CCS). A while later, I got my assignment notice to write to a member named Robert. He was located on the other side of the country from me. The words I read in the CCS letter were, “The inmate listed below is waiting to hear from you.” I immediately wrote my first letter.
