Someone’s Waiting

I came to with the sound of my own heartbeat pounding in my ears. I sat up and realized I was home, still dressed in clothes from the night before, tangled in sheets that hadn’t seen a washer in weeks. I was shaking, my body aching, nausea rising. But worst of all was the veil of shame and fear descending on me.
