Red Light Blue Light

His morning sober routine didn’t usually include a visit with a police officer, but this morning was special

When you see a stoplight flashing red, that means it’s time to stop the car. It’s not a suggestion. After a few years of sobriety, I mindlessly drove through a flashing red stoplight. I had no excuse. I was not even drunk or high. I simply wasn’t awake enough at 5:30 in the morning to catch myself. So a cop stopped to help remind me.
