Saying Yes

Like most AA members, I’ve benefited significantly from the people who have  sponsored me. I recall early in my sobriety saying something like, “I don’t want to do that,” to one sponsor about taking a service position. Luckily, he lovingly reminded me that there’s no better way to ensure a person’s ignorance than contempt prior to investigation. “Have you ever done service like that before?” he asked. “Why don’t you serve in that position first and then tell me it’s not for you?”
